San Francisco Museum of Modern Art

Temporarily Closed
June 3, 2013-thru' early 2016
San Francisco Museum of Modern Art (SFMOMA) is temporarily closed for major renovations. The museum will reopen in early 2016 after undergoing a 2 1/2 year expansion project that will more than double its galleries and provide approximately six times additional public space. When finished, the museum will showcase expanded SFMOMA collections and the impressive collections of Doris and Donald Fisher — one of the world's finest collections of contemporary art.

Current & Upcoming Exhibits

More Info on Current and Upcoming Exhibitions at SFMOMA

SFMOMA (San Francisco Museum of Modern Art) houses an impressive collection of Modern and Contemporary Art. The first museum on the West Coast devoted solely to 20th-century art, SFMOMA celebrated it's 75th Anniversary on January 18, 2010. In February 2011 the museum announced an exciting addition to its permanent collection — 195 promised gifts of works by some of the biggest names in art in the last half-century — Jackson Pollock, David Smith, Willem de Kooning, Jasper Johns, Robert Rauschenberg, Francis Bacon and Gerhard Richter.
