The Slanted Door is
one of our favorite restaurants in San Francisco. Its
Olle Lundberg-designed interior is trendy, stylish,
light and airy — and Charles Phan's food
is extraordinary.
Considered by many to serve the BEST Vietnamese food in the country,
Chef-owner Charles Phan has catered to a number of celebrity
guests, including rocker Mick Jagger, Sarah Jessica Parker and President
Clinton.
Located in the north-east corner
of the Ferry Building
Marketplace, its window-lined dining room
offers fabulous views of San Francisco Bay. It's no wonder that
the Slanted Door is a popular locale with tourists and
locals alike.
The spacious restaurant seats
150 people in the dining room
and
20
at the bar.
Food
Give your tastebuds a treat while savoring an exceptional blend
of French and Chinese cuisines, prepared with local, mainly organically-grown
ingredients. Vietnamese food never tasted better!
Served family-style, the dishes are meant to be shared, so you
can enjoy a variety of combinations
and tastes.
No MSG
Everything on the menu is flavorful and delicious — and
contains NO MSG.
For appetizers, we like the Slanted
Door Fresh Spring Rolls
with shrimp, pork, mint and peanut sauce and
the Crispy
Imperial Rolls.
For lighter fare, we suggest the Grapefruit & Jicama
Salad with candied pecans, Spicy Organic Bluelake Beans,and
the delicious Lemongrass Tofu with
fresh shiitake mushroms, onions and
chili sauce.
Menu standouts include:
Carmelized Tiger Prawns with garlic, organic
onions and
chili sauce; Meyer
Ranch Shaking Beef cubed Filet Migon
with garlic, watercress and organic red onions; Cellophane Noodles
with fresh Dungeness Crab Meat; and
Spicy Japanese Eggplant with
green onions and coconut milk.
Organic Chinese Teas
Desserts are scrumptious too. Enjoy a selection of dessert wines, after-dinner
drinks, and small pots of organically-grown Chinese teas.

Private Party Room
A glass-walled private dining room sits off to the side at the far end
of the restaurant. It seats up to
20 people — ideal for entertaining VIP Clients, Top Performers, Celebrating
Special Occasions or Group
Events.
For parties of 8 or more, a
prix fixe menu is required. 
Slanted Door Bar
Visually, the restaurant's 52-foot granite bar (shown below) is quite stunning — it's
a
great place to pop in for a drink after shopping at the Marketplace or while
waiting
for
your table. Their signature drink — Ginger Limeade with Hangar
One Kaffir Lime Vodka — is one of the most popular. Cheers!
You can also enjoy appetizers or grab a quick bite here if
you don't want to wait for
a table.

Reservations are highly recommended. The phones may
be busy, but keep trying. Be prepared to wait during peak
times.
Parking
Street parking (meters) is usually very
difficult. Parking garages are located along the Embarcadero, Broadway
and at Embarcadero Center. Validated parking is available in the
adjacent lot.
