Description & Atmosphere
Calling all cheese lovers! The Melt (owned by Flip Video founder, Jonathon Kaplan) opened in its first San Francisco location (a short walk from Moscone Center and SFMOMA) on Aug. 30, 2011.

The fast casual restaurant/cafe is small inside (great for take-out orders), with limited outdoor seating. Expect a line, especially during peak dining times. Orders are placed at the counter or online via mobile app — this IS San Francisco!

High Tech Ordering
The Melt incorporates the latest technology — order a "Melt" on your smart phone using their mobile app, come into any Melt store, scan the bar code, and they immediately start cooking your order.

Every order is listed on the restaurant's Order Board (on the wall) so you can see when your order will be ready (and how many orders are ahead of you). NOTE: They process orders very fast!

Who doesn't love to eat Grilled Cheese Sandwiches? Choose from a variety of tasty Gourmet Grilled Cheese Sandwiches, Fresh Salads and Homemade Soups. You can order a Grilled Cheese & Soup Combo, a Grilled Cheese Sandwich only, or a Homemade Soup.

  (Jalapeno Jack Cheese on Sourdough Bread, served with a Sweet Corn Tortilla Soup)
• The Classic Combo
  (Sharp Cheddar Cheese on Potato Bread, served with Tomato Basil Soup)

  (Fontina/Provolone on Garlic Bread & Italian Sausage & Pepper Soup)
• The Outlaw
  (Colby Jack on Eight Grain & Spicy Bean Soup)
• The Parisian
  (Brie/Apple Butter on White Wheat & Creamy Wild Mushroom Soup).

You may want to try dipping your sandwich in your soup — everyone seemed to be doing it during Barry's recent lunch visit.

Desserts and snacks (Smores Melt, Freshly-Baked Chocolate Chip Cookies, Cracker Jacks, and Fruit) — and soft drinks are also available at The Melt.

Open 11am-9pm

Reservations
No reservations. Be prepared to wait in line — it's not unusual to see lines out the door, especially during peak dining times. Orders are processed quickly so you shouldn't have too long a wait.
