Chestnut Street
We love walking around Chestnut Street — it's a FUN place to hang out, eat,
shop, and people-watch. The area is dotted with great restaurants, hot bars, cozy neighborhood cafés, coffee houses, trendy boutiques, book stores, and specialty shops.
It's one of the hottest places in San Francisco, especially at night — the restaurants and bars are buzzing. It's also a very hot area for weekend brunch — popular with locals and tourists alike.

Parking is challenging, especially during lunch and dinner hours... and at weekends — metered street parking is available and several garages are in the area.

If it's a nice day and you feel like getting a little exercise, park for free at the Marina Green (overlooking SF Bay) and walk over to Chestnut Street. It's a nice 15-20-minute walk!

Picnic Lunch in the Marina
Stop by Luca Deli (it's been around since 1929) and pick up all fixings for a picnic lunch — they have fantastic deli food and can make up delicious sandwiches-to-go (you can even order online). They also offer a variety of salads, sides and beverages. Two of our favorite San Francisco picnic places include the grassy area overlooking the Palace of Fine Arts (and its swan-filled lagoon) and the Marina Green (overlooking SF Bay, the Golden Gate Bridge and Alcatraz).
