"Nightlife at the Academy"
— Fun Thursday Night Event
If you're looking for the latest FUN thing to do on a
Thursday night, head over to "Nightlife" at the California
Academy of Sciences in Golden Gate Park. This popular event is drawing
crowds
like you wouldn't believe!
An hour after closing, the museum re-opens
its doors to adults from 6-10pm for "Nightlife" — a
fun weekly evening event blending
cutting-edge science, music, activities, cocktails and food
in a unique museum setting.

Visiting the museum at night
vs daytime is quite a different experience. At night, visitors
get a chance to mingle over cocktails, listen to music
by a DJ while exploring the
museum and its exhibits, and interact with
scientists
and other experts. Enjoy sipping wine
while peering into the Aquarium's
giant Coral Reef Tank — it's
just like being at a BIG private museum party!

Fun Activities
Activities vary week-to-week — enjoy
stargazing on the Living
Roof, science cafes, informal talks
by scientists, opportunities to meet aquarium animals... and more!

Stargazing on the Living Roof
During a recent "Nightlife" visit,
following a Planetarium Show,
we went up to the Living Roof to
stargaze through giant telescopes. On this particular
night, the telescopes were set up to see Venus. It was
incredible!

Learn more about the planets
and the universe. Expert advisers are on hand to answer any
questions you may have during stargazing.

By the way, if you plan on seeing the Planetarium
Show during "Nightlife," be sure to get your tickets
early. It's very popular and the lines get longer as the evening
progresses. FYI... the first show of the evening (6:30pm) is usually
the lightest.
The glass-domed Rainforest is
another popular museum attraction — during "Nightlife," it
closes at 8pm, so get there early if you don't want to miss it. This is
one of our favorite "must-see" exhibits in the
museum.

Get an up-close view of animals and plants from
the rainforests of Borneo, Costa Rica and Madagascar — the Rainforest
is filled with more than 40 species of free-flying
birds and beautiful multi-colored butterflies.
